We are so excited you found this opportunity at Camps K&E! We believe it’s never too late to go to sleep-away camp, and that there’s no job more fun or fulfilling than caring for and mentoring kids in a beautiful, natural setting. At K&E, you’ll spend your days outside leading, laughing, creating, and being part of a supportive community you won’t experience anywhere else.
Camp is hard work: high-energy, long hours, but deeply rewarding. We’re looking for people who like a challenge and are passionate about making a difference. We truly believe this isn’t just a summer job. It’s a chance to grow, unplug, make lifelong friends, and develop durable, real-world skills. We can’t wait to meet you!
What You’ll Do:
- Set the tone. Build and maintain a warm, supportive bunk environment alongside one or two co-counselors for your 6-8 campers. Spend quality time with each camper throughout the day: eat meals together and create meaningful routines and rituals.
- Make camp safe. Monitor your campers’ physical, mental, and social-emotional health through consistent, active supervision and regular check-ins. Step in early when something feels off and provide first aid when needed.
- Be a role model. Show your campers how to be a good listener, teammate, and friend. Model how to take healthy risks, try new things, reach out to others, and own your actions.
- Bring the energy, but read the room. Get hype for all-camp performances and competitions: dress up, blast music, cheer for your kids, and make magic. But also, know when to slow things down, hold space, or just hang out.
- Take initiative. At K&E, we love the phrase: “How can I help?” As a General Counselor, you might help Specialists run activities or lead one yourself. Ask questions, share ideas, and advocate for your campers. Think your kids would love a 45-minute karate lesson after lunch? Send it!
- Shape camp’s future. Attend weekly staff meetings to celebrate wins, share feedback, and brainstorm how to make each day better for campers and staff alike.
Bonus: We love getting our staff certified in lifeguarding and high ropes (mostly belaying from the ground). If you’re interested, we can train you at camp for free – you’d just arrive at staff training a few days earlier. Additionally, if you’d rather get lifeguard certified at your local pool, we can cover the cost of the course!
About K&E: We are a traditional, long-session brother-sister overnight camp situated beside the gorgeous Eagle Pond. We’re two hours from Boston, but our campers (ages 7-15) and staff come from all over the world. Campers and staff also embark on trips to local attractions, mountains, and beaches throughout the summer.
