Web & Digital Media Internship
12 week /semester – minimum 8 hours per week – UNPAID
This intern reports to the Senior Online Coordinator and is responsible for assisting with: website maintenance & development, creation of digital media assets (primarily video), assisting with WordPress-based blogs, and assisting with creation of social media posts (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter). The Web & Digital Media Intern will gain experience working in a fast-pace digital environment in a non-profit organization. Because of the small department size, a wide variety of tasks/projects will be assigned. This is an unpaid internship, intended for a college-level student, but others will be considered.
Fall internships run from September through December
Spring interships run fron January through May
We do not offer summer internships
Duties Include:
- Daily website updates
- Transferring existing content from an archived site to new site
- Gathering promotional images from multiple sources
- Creating web video assets for local programs (YouTube and COVE)
- Updating WordPress-based websites
- Assisting with the creation of social media assets & posts
- Various other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Internet and HTML experience necessary
- Must have some experience with a CMS; Drupal preferred
- Experience with a blogging platform; WordPress preferred
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred
- Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, & HootSuite
- Experience creating content on YouTube
- Excellent written communication skills are necessary
- Must represent the organization in a professional manner online
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be detail oriented, able to juggle multiple projects at once, able to work with strict deadlines.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Minimum commitment of 8 hours per week
- Must be 18 yrs. of age or older.
