Westfield State University enjoys an affiliation with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC), a partnership that provides exciting internship opportunities in Washington D.C.

TWC is a vital nonprofit organization serving hundreds of colleges and universities in the U.S. and other countries by providing selected students challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C. for academic credit. The largest such program, TWC has over 60,000 alumni, leaders in numerous professions and nations around the world.

 During TWC’s Academic Internship Program (semester or summer), students will engage in three main program components:

1. Internship: TWC partners with hundreds of different internship sites in D.C. and works with students one-on-one to place them in an internship. Once students begin their internship, they’ll be working on projects related to their interests with a supervisor who cares about their growth and success.

2. Academic Course: One night a week, students will take part in one of TWC’s courses. They’ll be able to choose a course based on their interests and gain access to faculty members who not only work as professors but often as professionals in their field.

3. Career Prep: This programming is a mix of professional development workshops, career exploration sessions, networking events, and one-on-one career advising designed to help students make the most of their internship experience and gain the tools and insights they’ll need to launch their career.

All Westfield State University majors are eligible to apply to the Academic Internship Program. More than 400 undergraduates have taken advantage of these this exciting opportunity. Scholarships and financial assistance is are available for eligible program participants.

Financial Assistance

Massachusetts residents are eligible for state-based financial assistance. Award amounts for all terms: $6500.

Scholarship Eligibility

Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be residents of Massachusetts. In the fall and spring semesters, eligible students’ WSU tuition and fees are waived.
